Harry was totally surprised but he wasn't as he sat there in the booth eating chicken in Gomez's favorite Cuban restaurant.
"Did anyone ever tell you Harry, that you have beautiful brown eyes?" Gomez asked.
Echo. You have beautiful brown eyes.
Echo. You have beautiful brown eyes.
Echo. You have beautiful brown eyes.
Echo. You have beautiful brown eyes.
Echo. You have beautiful brown eyes.
...
Harry clutched the seat of the booth tightly so that his legs wouldn't betray him and flee out of the restaurant. Flee from Gomez.
"...?"
You have beautiful brown eyes. What next? "Shall we dance dance?"
And Gomez knew it. Stupid remark. Not a come-on line. Thirty-two years old, and Gomez still wasn't sure what he was. Am I or ain't I? Is he or isn't he? He didn't have a clue. Just a hunch, just a feeling. But Harry had beautiful brown eyes.
Gomez was a blurter, so he was used to dealing with inappropriate questions and comments that escaped from his mouth. Sometimes blurting out led to success like it almost did with his pilot, Leftovers. "So what happens to Adults that don't hook up with someone - ever? There's lots of them and they're funny. Leftovers, a show about those left behind in the wake of life." and he sold the script sold.
While other times, most times those blurts don't go over well. Like, "You have beautiful brown eyes." Even Gomez didn't know what he meant.
