Finally figured out the best strategy preparing for a fast. Drank a liter of water and ate a tin of tuna and loaded up on carbs all day and had the easiest Yom Kippur fast ever. No parched throat, no dizziness, felt strong all day...
Sitting in there in synagogue on the Day of Atonement, feeling pretty guilty about my Mocking posting. True, it's fiction and must be able to write freely, but nonetheless it's still a bit ratfinky. Still, too much material there to mine. Characters to explore:
Papa Bear and Cubs
Papa's Bear's bro who refuses lifts
The leaflet and the prez
Joe Franken, the shrunken feminine head sporting a sideways kipah
The Renaissance man and Mr. S's man-crush
Overflowing at the mechitzah
The 70's Man
Wizard of Oz behind the curtain
Lady with mouth perpetually agape
Larry the Kiddish Destroyer
Tsar Nicholas and the little princes
Rabbi Cornball
Cough Drop Man
Larry the Social Worker
Ivanhoe, captain of the Archery Maccabee team
A hundred stories there, do a synagogue version of Armistead Maupin'sTales of the City, Tales of the Shul.
