October Notes

Yet another novel idea, Mr. Almost, only jotting it down for the record. Maybe combine Mr. Almost with Great Opening lines?

Why are we not getting more info on what on down in the Chilean mines? Seems like commercialism and sell-your-story have reached every remote corner on the planet. Have a hard time believing that not one journalist has come out with the big story yet. We have dribs and drabs, but nothing more. Admire the miners' unity but enough already, let's hear the story.

Went to a neighborhood party last night. To begin with, October is far and away my favorite time of the year for a Saturday night party. Crisp air, smell of fireplaces burning, fat moon hanging low and a heavy-blanket night. All the local dog-lovers were there, never socialized with them before, people barely recognizing me without my pooper-scooper. Love dog-talk, much to the chagrin of my wife. Pleasant and refreshing somewhere new with such polite people, strangers introducing themselves...although I clung to the doggie set. Host was a card magician and treated us to a private show that blew everyone's mind. A total blast. (Mental note: Good setting to open novel).
